Can scholarship aid reflect my passions?
Scholarships provide access, attract top scholars and student-athletes, and support graduate and professional students.
ACHIEVEMENT — Support the top 25 percent of the undergraduate applicant pool, bringing highly talented students to campus. Reward those who have worked hard. Scholarships have a tremendous impact on Marquette’s ability to attract the top tier of students. These students energize and challenge the academic climate of our campus through their leadership, intellect and character. Competition for these top students is great.
OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS — Support first-generation and underrepresented students. Fight for what is right and fair. Need-based scholarships make college accessible to those who have traditionally been excluded from higher education. This is particularly important for low-income and first-generation students.
ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE — Our student-athletes excel in academics and athletics. One hundred twenty-eight of them, more than half, were named to the 2010-11 Big East All-academic Team.
COLLEGE OF YOUR CHOICE — In addition to supporting Marquette as a whole, these scholarships help each college recruit and retain the most talented students.
PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS — Students in these schools have already completed the rigors of undergraduate education and finance their education primarily through loans. By earmarking funds to provide financial support to them, you ensure that the highest-quality students are financially able to continue their education in these important professions.
GRADUATE STUDENTS — Graduate students play a vital role in the university, pushing the boundaries of knowledge through cutting-edge research, serving as teachers and mentors to undergraduate students, and training to become the next generation of professors and professional leaders. They are a significant presence on campus, making up nearly 30 percent of the university’s population. Marquette’s graduate financial aid packages lag behind those of peer schools. Your investment in new assistantships and fellowships is critical to the university’s ability to recruit top graduate students.
Without financial aid, I would have never had the opportunity to build my leadershio skills and take my nonprofit to the next level and truly impact my community.
Our vision is to be a university where all students who aspire to a Jesuit education have access to the scholarship aid they need to make a Marquette education possible. Your commitment can make this happen.
Today’s Marquette students depend on the students of yesterday more than ever. In the past, it was possible for students to pay for most or all of their education through summer employment and part-time jobs. This is no longer the case.
Your gift toward scholarship aid is one way you can share your Marquette experience with the next generation of scholars. Help spread the word. Give today. Give Marquette.
